Indian Motorcycle has unveiled a special edition Chief Vintage cruiser at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, paying homage to the origins of the world's largest motorcycle rally. This limited-edition model, priced at £23,500, is a 1940s-inspired cruiser, available in a two-tone livery of red and cream, with a special headdress logo on the fuel tank. Each bike is numbered below the brown single rider's seat, with the 56 on the side plate being a tribute to the hand-painted numbers used by the first racers in the early days of Sturgis.
The Chief Vintage is powered by an air-cooled 1890cc V-twin engine, producing 115lb.ft of torque at 3300rpm, and features a four-inch touchscreen TFT display and three riding modes. It also includes modern touches such as LED illuminated headdress design on the front mudguard and a belt-driven system with a matt twin exit exhaust.
Despite being a limited edition, the UK will only receive one bike, which is a shame according to MCN. The model is a throwback to the early days of Sturgis, and the company could have done more to distinguish it from the standard machine. The Chief Vintage is a testament to the rich history of Indian Motorcycle and the Sturgis Rally, and it is a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
